Vol. 106 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Exchange Control.

asked the Minister for Finance if any agreement has been reached between his Department and the British Treasury, following the enactment of the British Exchange Control Bill; and if so, if he will state the nature of such agreement.

I refer the Deputy to the statement I made in reply to his question of 26th February relative to discussions between officials of my Department and the British Treasury on the subject of the British Foreign Exchange Bill. No further discussions on this matter have taken place. I may say, however, that the British measure in question is in the main a restatement in permanent form of British law already in operation under temporary war-time legislation and it has not given rise to any matter requiring specific agreement of the nature referred to by the Deputy.

Is this country a scheduled territory under that Act?

I do not remember all the clauses of the Act and I should require notice of that question.
