Vol. 106 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quality of Turf.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received complaints regarding the quality of the turf delivered in the Dún Laoghaire area by fuel merchants; and if he will send an inspector to investigate specific complaints of delivery of top spit, and turf of mossy quality.

Following recent complaints regarding the quality of the turf delivered in Dún Laoghaire area, the position was specially investigated locally, and everything possible has been done to ensure that supplies available there are similar in quality to those elsewhere. No real improvement will, however, be possible until dry turf is available from the bogs in adequate volume to meet requirements.
