Vol. 106 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is his intention to have the wages of forestry workers raised, having regard to the recent increased wages granted to agricultural workers; and whether any such increase will be made retrospective to the date of commencement of the increased wages of agricultural workers.

The wages of forestry labourers have been reviewed in the light of the increases in wages granted to agricultural labourers under the Agricultural Wages (Minimum Rates) Order, 1947, and it has been decided to grant increased rates of wages to forestry labourers with effect as from the 19th May, 1947, the operative date of the Order.
