Vol. 106 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Catering Licences.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state how many applications for catering licences have been received from hotel proprietors from 1st January, 1946, to date; how many were granted; also, how many similar applications have been received from proprietors of smaller catering establishments; and how many have been granted.

I presume the question relates to applications for permits to purchase rationed foodstuffs for catering purposes. Applications for such permits in respect of 46 new hotels were received since the 1st January, 1946, and permits have been granted in 45 cases. Records are not kept of applications in respect of new catering establishments other than hotels and, accordingly, I am not in a position to say how many were received. None was granted.
