Vol. 107 No. 5

Written Answers. - Coal Imports.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity of coal, of each variety, imported from (a) Great Britain; (b) United States, and (c) other countries, for each week in the months of March, April and May, and the first two weeks in June, 1947.

Statistics of coal imports by weeks are not compiled for publication. For the total imports of coal from Great Britain and the United States during March, April and May, 1947, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question on the 10th June, 1947. The imports during these months from other countries were negligible. The figures for the month of June are not yet available. In present circumstances, the varieties of coal imported do not lend themselves readily to precise classification.
