Vol. 108 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Hospitals' Sweepstakes.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state: (a) what are the functions of (i) Hospitals' Trust, Limited, and (ii) Hospitals' Committee; (b) the personnel of each of these bodies; and (c) what assets each of these bodies held on 31st May, 1947.

Mr. Boland

I assume that the deputy is referring to the Sweepstake Committee and Hospitals' Trust (1940), Ltd.

The Sweepstake Committee is a committee appointed by the governing bodies of hospitals under Section 5 of the Public Hospitals Act, 1933, for the purpose of managing and controlling sweepstakes in aid of the Hospitals' Trust Fund. I understand that the Committee has no assets.

Hospitals' Trust (1940), Ltd., is a private limited company which is engaged by the Sweepstake Committee to promote the sweepstakes. Information in regard to the members of the company can be obtained in the ordinary way from the Registrar of Companies. I have no information in regard to the assets of the company.
