Vol. 108 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widowed Soldiers' Pensions

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that, under the Army pensions code, a soldier whose wife dies while he is serving is deemed not to be a married man when he retires on disability pension, and that, therefore, he is not entitled to any allowance in respect of the children of his marriage; and if he will take legislative steps to rectify this anomaly.

An amendment to the Army Pensions Acts in respect of the matter raised in the Deputy's question is at present receiving consideration.
