Written Answers. - Installation of Telephones.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state: (a) the number of applications for the installation of telephones, received by his Department, during the past 12 months, from the town of Wexford; (b) the number of new telephones installed; (c) the description of the various renters for whom telephones were so installed, distinguishing between private residences, commercial and professional establishments and other concerns; and (d) the business, professional and other classes of applicants who were not provided with telephones.

The answers to the Deputy's queries are as follows: (a) 27 applications for new exchange lines were received during the past 12 months from the town of Wexford; (b) Six new exchange lines—two of which were in respect of applications made during the previous 12 months' period —were provided; (c) The applications in the cases in which service was provided fall into the following groups: professional (medical), three; business, three; (d) the applications in the cases in which provision of service has been deferred fall into the following groups: professional, two; business, 15; private residences, six.
