Vol. 108 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Entry of Aliens.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that many undesirable aliens are arriving daily in this country; whether it is a fact that these people engage extensively in black-marketing, smuggling and other subversive activities; and if he will state what steps he proposes to take to prevent such persons from entering this country.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state what steps he proposes to take to deport those aliens who may be engaging in the smuggling out of this country of considerable quantities of gold, silver and other valuable property.

Mr. Boland

I propose to take questions Nos. 21 and 22 together.

I am not aware that many undesirable aliens are arriving here or that any aliens are engaging in blackmarketing, smuggling or subversive activities. I am satisfied that the control on the entry of aliens imposed by the Aliens Order, 1946, is satisfactory.
