Vol. 108 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coal Rations for Domestic Use.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the granting of a coal ration to domestic users in West Cork could be easily met by the availability of small coasters which could discharge coal cargoes at Kinsale, Courtmacsherry and other such harbours; and if he will consider, in the light of this advantage, the granting of a small coal ration to domestic users within easy reach of these ports, particularly where such users live more than 25 miles from the nearest bog.

Supplies of coal are not sufficient to enable an allowance of coal to be given for domestic use in any part of the scheduled turf area and the availability of any particular form of transport does not, therefore, arise in respect of the place referred to by the Deputy.
