Vol. 108 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Water Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a water supply scheme is urgently required at Dungeagon, County Kerry; and if he is in a position to state when such a scheme will be provided.

I am aware that this supply is urgently required, but I also understand that the problem presents very considerable technical difficulties.

Proposals for a water supply scheme for Ballinskelligs and Dungeagon were submitted to my Department by the former Board of Health and Public Assistance. Considerable difficulty was experienced in obtaining a source of supply which would prove adequate for the needs of the area, and in November, 1939, the Kerry Board of Health and Public Assistance decided to defer the scheme indefinitely. No further proposals have been received from the local authority in the matter.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position concerning the proposed water scheme for the town of Caherciveen.

The consulting engineer's outline proposals for a water supply improvement scheme at Cahirciveen were approved by my Department on the 22nd instant. The local authority may now proceed with the preparation of contract documents.
