* The houses erected and in course of erection by private persons and public utility societies refer only to houses in respect of which grants are payable under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Acts, 1932— 1946.

At the end of October, 1947, 2,694 houses were in course of erection by local bodies and of this number it is estimated that 310 will have been completed at 31st December, 1947. At 31st October, 1947, there were 2,054 houses for erection by private persons and public utility societies in respect of which certificates of approval had been issued but final payment had not been made. It is expected that 120 of these houses will be completed in the two months period to the end of December, 1947.
