Vol. 110 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clarke Estate, Trabolgan.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is his intention to acquire for redistribution amongst the uneconomic landholders and landless men in the district, the lands of the Clarke estate, situated at Trabolgan, County Cork, and, if so, whether he is in a position to say if this can be done immediately.

Proceedings are in progress for the acquisition of 494 acres at Trabolgan on the Clarke estate and a resale scheme is in course of preparation.

Is the Minister aware that there is a suggestion to acquire 50 acres of this estate for a landing ground for aeroplanes? What would be the Minister's attitude if such an application was made?

I understand that no application has been made for such a purpose on this estate. While it would be time enough to consider what my attitude would be when we have finally acquired the estate, the Deputy can take it that I would not be favourable to granting land for this purpose if there is congestion in the locality.
