Vol. 110 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lambs Attacked by Carrion Crows.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that North County Dublin farmers have suffered a loss of young lambs which were attacked and killed by carrion crows; and whether, in view of the report that these birds are nesting in the trees surrounding Portrane Mental Hospital, he will instruct the local authority to have the birds destroyed.

I have not been able to obtain any confirmation of the reports referred to in the Deputy's question. I have no power to direct a local authority on the lines suggested. In any event I would prefer to rely on local initiative to scare the crows, rather than on the Government of Ireland.
