Vol. 110 No. 9

Written Answers to Questions. - Barrow Drainage Schemes.

asked the Minister for Finance, whether, in connection with the proposed increase in drainage schemes, he will give favourable consideration to the extension of maintenance works on a few small tributaries of the River Barrow in the Counties of Laoighis and Offaly by directing the county councils to increase the number of men (but not supervisors) in the gangs already employed on this work, particularly in view of the fact that the extension of these schemes for lengths from 300 to 1,000 yards or more would benefit a large number of holdings by giving an outfall for internal drainage work on them.

There is no power to extend the limits of an existing drainage district.

The Dáil adjourned at 10.30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 5th May.
