Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Housing Conditions.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to announce plans for an immediate drive to provide houses for the citizens of Dublin living in insanitary and overcrowded tenements.

Mr. Murphy

I have announced details of the arrangements made by me for dealing with the housing problem in Dublin City and County by the appointment of a Director of Housing and a Housing Consultative Council.

Does the Minister consider that the appointment of this new Director and of this new council will do anything to speed up the building of houses?

Mr. Murphy

I have every hope in that direction.

Hope deferred.
