Vol. 110 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bray-Wicklow Hospital.

asked the Minister for Health whether any scheme has been submitted to his Department for the building of a hospital to serve the towns of Bray and Wicklow.

Proposals for the construction of a new hospital in East Wicklow have been under discussion with the local authority for some time, and it was intended in 1946 to erect a hospital in Wicklow Town. That project has, however, not proceeded, partly because of difficulties over the securing of a site. I have examined the papers and I am not altogether satisfied that the solution which has been discussed with the local authority is the best one for the people of East Wicklow. I am having the matter looked into and I hope to be able to arrive at a decision soon.
