Vol. 110 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Educational Films.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the importance of films as a medium of education, he will ensure that special leave with pay will be granted to those teachers who attended a course in educational films at University College, Galway, last Easter.

I have had inquiries made into this matter and on consideration I can find no reason to alter the decision communicated to the National Film Institute on February 9th last.

The Department is fully alive to the importance of films in education as is evidenced by the fact that the National Film Institute's Summer Courses for 1946 and 1947 were approved and that the Summer Course for 1948 is also being accepted. Special leave with pay is accorded to all teachers who attend regularly at approved courses.
