Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ardfinnan (County Tipperary) Flooding.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the serious flooding of the village of Ardfinnan, County Tipperary, by the waters of the River Suir; and, if so, whether he is prepared to take such steps as are necessary to prevent further flooding of this area.

The carrying out of drainage works in this area under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, must await a comprehensive scheme for the River Suir catchment as a whole. It is not possible to say when such a scheme can be reached in the arterial drainage programme.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state if he is prepared to have this matter investigated with a view to taking temporary measures to prevent flooding?

If the Deputy has any representations to make along that line that may be helpful, and if he puts them before the Department, I shall have them considered.
