Vol. 111 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bakery Dispute in Dublin.

Mr. A. Byrne

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether it is the Government's intention to approach the parties in the bakery dispute in Dublin with a view to the settlement of their differences, and if an effort will be made to bring to an end the present intolerable position which is causing grave hardships to those citizens who are now deprived of supplies of bread.

Certain steps have been taken with a view to the settlement of the dispute and I think it would be advisable to withhold comment for the time being.

Mr. A. Byrne

The matter is of such urgent importance that I beg to give notice that I will raise this matter on the adjournment of the House to-night with your permission, or if the Minister thinks it should wait until to-morrow, I would claim privilege to get in to-morrow night instead because the matter should not be left as it is, imposing such great hardship.

The matter is of such urgency and of such great importance that I would appeal to the Deputy not to raise the matter to-night, as I do not think that he would serve any useful purpose by doing so.

Mr. A. Byrne

To-morrow night then.
