Vol. 111 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware that there is no water supply to Ballyhooly National School; and, if so, whether he will either provide a water supply or give a grant for the purpose.

The Department has not received any representations regarding a water supply for the Ballyhooly Boys' and Girls' National Schools and I have no information as to the position there. The Ballyhooly National Schools are non-vested. No State grant is payable in respect of improvements to any non-vested school. Even in the case of a vested school, a grant may not be made from State funds towards the cost of providing a water supply, unless it be for the sole benefit of the school.
