Vol. 111 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Visitors' Purchases.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether there is any prohibition of the export to Great Britain and the Six Counties of articles of clothing, shoes, souvenirs and leather goods purchased by visitors during their stay here, for personal use; and, if so, what are the regulations governing the export of such articles.

The export of the goods mentioned is controlled under the Emergency Powers (Control of Export) Order, 1940, as amended, and licences for export are not granted to visitors. Arrangements have, however, been made to allow persons leaving this country after a holiday to take with them, at the discretion of the customs officials, reasonable quantities of certain goods, including those mentioned by the Deputy.
