Vol. 111 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Bilateral Agreement with America.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state the position concerning the bilateral agreement with the Government of the United States of America arising out of the European Recovery Programme, and when the matter will come before the Dáil.

The Agreement was signed in Dublin on the 28th June, and copies of the text were laid on the table of the House on the same day. It is proposed to give time to-morrow and on Friday morning for the discussion of this Agreement, as well as the Convention signed in Paris last April. The Government will ask the Dáil to approve of both Agreements. It is particularly desired to secure approval of the bilateral agreement in time to enable acceptance of it to be completed within the limit of time fixed by the American Act, that is to say, by Saturday, the 3rd July.
