Vol. 111 No. 17

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Purchase of Finglas Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether tenants of county council cottages at Tolka Bridge, Finglas, are entitled to purchase these houses and if he can state what price they would be expected to pay.

Mr. Murphy

The cottages at Tolka Bridge, Finglas, were included in a purchase scheme which was approved in 1938 under the Labourers Act, 1936. Subsequently, certain additional accommodation was provided in the cottages and a revised purchase scheme is now being prepared by the county council so that the contributions payable by the tenants in respect of this additional accommodation can be included in the cottage purchase annuity. Pending the submission and approval of the purchase scheme, I cannot say what annuities the tenants would be required to pay. The annuities will be less than the rents payable by the tenants.
