Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Meat Costs.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the cost per lb. of meat supplied for Army use.

The average price per lb. of beef supplied under existing contracts is 1/5¼d. The latest costing available for beef supplied from the Army abattoirs at Dublin and the Curragh is 1/10.73d. for the month of May, 1948. Small quantities of mutton are supplied under contract to Army hospitals, the present average price being 2/3.6d. per lb.
