Local Government (Dublin) (Temporary) Bill, 1948—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make temporary provision for the exercise of the executive functions of the Dublin Board of Assistance and to restrict temporarily the making of permanent appointments to the office of Dublin Assistant City Manager and the office of Dublin Assistant County Manager—(Minister for Local Government).

Is it contemplated that this Bill will be passed before the Recess?

In fact, it will be necessary to have it passed having regard to the proximity of the local elections.

Ordered: That the Second Stage be taken on Wednesday next, 28th July.
