Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planting of Wicklow Hill.

Mr. Brennan

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to proceed with the planting of Ballynultagh Hill, Shillelagh, County Wicklow.

The forestry division does not at present hold any land on Ballynultagh Hill. Arrangements have been made to acquire from the Land Commission a holding in the vicinity the owner of which is being migrated. Negotiations are also in progress for the acquisition of another large holding on Ballynultagh and offers have been received of various smaller holdings or parts of holdings but some of the parties concerned require other land in exchange. I am unable to say when actual planting operations will commence but the matter is being pushed forward as rapidly as possible.
