Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Straffan and Newcastle Postal Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that a postman from Straffan and one from Newcastle, County Dublin, travel upon the same road in the course of their postal duties, and that the Straffan postman travels almost five miles to a place within one mile from Newcastle Post Office; and, if so, whether he will take steps to remedy the position.

I am aware that correspondence for certain townlands near Newcastle is delivered by a postman from Straffan. This postman's route does not, however, overlap the delivery route of the Newcastle postman. The present delivery arrangements are more economical than if the townlands in question were delivered from Newcastle sub-office.
