Vol. 112 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Telephone Services.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that a telephone service is needed at Saggart, County Dublin, and, if so, whether he will take steps to provide such service immediately.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he will take steps immediately to provide a telephone at the Post Office, Newcastle, County Dublin, in view of the fact that there is urgent need for this service in the area.

I propose, with the Deputies consent, and your permission, Sir, to answer the questions numbered 22 and 23 together.

Public telephones will be installed at Saggart and Newcastle, County Dublin, as part of the scheme to provide such facilities at all post offices. Work on the scheme, however, has had to be suspended temporarily in favour of more urgent work, particularly the provision of telephones for waiting applicants, and accordingly, it is not possible to say, at present, when the installations will be carried out at the offices named.

In the case of questions Nos. 24 to 35 I would ask the Deputies to repeat the questions to-morrow, when they will be answered by the Minister for Agriculture.
