Vol. 112 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare Island Medical Officer.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the reasons for the delay in making the appointment of a permanent medical officer in the Clare Island area.

The delay in making this appointment is due to the fact that the local authority proposes to amalgamate Clare Island and Inisturk.

The matter, which has been under consideration in my Department, has been agreed to and the necessary sanction will issue at an early date. The proposal involved consideration of the future dispensary service in Inisboffin, which has hitherto been amalgamated with Inisturk, and consultation with the Galway County Council, who have agreed to the proposed new arrangement.
