Vol. 112 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Chief of Staff's Visit to London.

asked the Taoiseach whether, as announced in the Press, the Chief of Staff has been in London recently as the guest of the British War Office; and, if so, whether he will state if the Chief of Staff accepted the invitation of the British War Office with the knowledge and permission of the Government; and, if not, whether he will make a statement on the subject of this visit.

The Chief of Staff has been in London recently in connection with the availability of equipment. When the necessary arrangements were being made, he was invited by the British Army Council to visit the British Army as the guest of the British Government. The Chief of Staff accepted this invitation with the knowledge and approval of the Minister for Defence, and I should like to express my appreciation of this courtesy.
