Vol. 113 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Holidays.

asked the Taoiseach if he will consider making the 24th April of each year a national holiday, in commemoration of those who fell in Ireland's cause, and particularly in remembrance of the day on which the Irish Republic was first declared.

asked the Taoiseach if he will consider the advisability of declaring the day of the signing, or the coming into operation, of the Republic of Ireland Act an independence day and a national holiday.

asked the Taoiseach whether when the Republic of Ireland Bill becomes law the Government will in thanksgiving for and in commemoration of the occasion declare a national holiday.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions Nos, 1, 2 and 3 together.

The Government are considering all the factors involved in the suggestions contained in the questions, and a decision will be announced as soon as possible.
