Vol. 113 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Turbary.

asked the Minister for Lands what steps are being taken to purchase and develop (i) the turbary at Slieveduff (Mahony estate), County Kerry, for the 20 applicants from Templenoe, Greenane, Killarney; (ii) the turbary required by 12 applicants from Coomnakilla, Blackwater (Mahony estate); (iii) the turbary on the lands of David Sheehan, Monlagonlane, Sneem, for 24 applicants from Driminabeg, Drominamore and elsewhere on the Warden estate; (iv) the turbary on Daniel Falvey's lands, Brickloon, Tahilla, for 20 tenants of the Herd estate, and at Sheehan's lands, near Portmagee, for 20 tenants in that neighbourhood.

The Land Commission have instituted proceedings for the acquisition of turbary at Slieveduff in the possession of Mrs. Hannah Sullivan. They have under consideration the question of the acquisition of David Sheehan's bog at Monlagonlane, representatives Michael Falvey's bog at Brickloon and Thomas Sheehan's bog at Killoluaig, but they are not at present in a position to state if or when they will institute acquisition proceedings in these cases. From the particulars supplied it has not been found possible to identify the turbary which is stated to be required by 12 applicants from Coomnakilla, Blackwater, but if the Deputy will furnish the name of the townland where the bog in question is situated, and the owner's name the case will be noted for inquiry.
