Vol. 113 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Dublin Post Offices.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he proposes to commence the building of the post office in St. Andrew Street, Dublin, and when he expects this building will be completed.

It is proposed to commence the erection of the new post office and telephone exchange at St. Andrew Street, Dublin, in the New Year and it is estimated, provided nothing unforeseen occurs, that the work of erection will occupy a period of about two years.

Is the Minister aware that the last promise which the Board of Works made in reference to the St. Andrew Street Post Office was that the work would be started in July 12 months? Will he refer to the records as to the advice that was given at that time by the present Minister for Agriculture to the then Minister for Posts and Telegraphs about speeding up the building of that post office?

The Deputy was hatching on that for years.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether, and when, he proposes to complete the building of Pearse Street Post Office.

It is proposed to erect a new sorting office on the Pearse Street site, but I am not in a position to fix a date for the completion of the scheme.
