Vol. 113 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Dispensaries.

asked the Minister for Health whether a new dispensary will be provided at Donabate village in the near future.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that the following dispensary premises are in need of extensive repair: Donabate, Balbriggan, Rush, Oldtown; and, if so, whether he will consider the desirability of providing modern dispensary premises in these places.

I propose with your permission, a Chinn Chomhairle, to take question No. 25 and No. 26 together.

The provision of new dispensary premises in the Balrothery area is a matter for the Balrothery Board of Assistance.

In a circular letter dated 1st April. 1948, I drew the attention of local authorities to the unsatisfactory condition of many dispensaries and urged them to take early steps to have them kept in proper condition. It is my intention to continue to urge local authorities to do so.

I am informed that the Balrothery Board of Assistance had under consideration at a meeting held on the 29th November a report from their engineer on the condition of the dispensaries and that he recommended the provision of new dispensary premises in certain districts. I understand that the board proposes to inspect the dispensaries at an early date and to submit proposals to me. I will be prepared to give sympathetic consideration to any proposals submitted to me by the board for the provision of dispensaries in the area.
