Vol. 113 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Military Service Medals.

asked the Minister for Defence if, in view of the fact that it has been decided to present service medals to members of the Army, L.D.F., and L.S.F., in recognition of their services during the emergency periods, he will consider the desirability of issuing these medals before the day on which the signing of the Republic of Ireland Bill is celebrated.

I have no indication as to the date from which the Republic of Ireland Bill will operate.

I anticipate, however, that the issue of medals in respect of service during the emergency period will be commenced early in the New Year.
