Vol. 113 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Dispensary Vacancies.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that vacancies for the dispensary districts of Clashmore, Ballymacarbery and Bonmahon, County Waterford, have not been filled, and if he will say when steps will be taken to fill them so as to give a medical service to the people of the districts named.

I am aware of the vacancies in the dispensary districts stated. The vacancies are being filled through the Local Appointments Commission and I understand that in each case the commission will be in a position at an early date to recommend to the local authority a person for appointment.

Is the Minister aware that in one dispensary we had a doctor who remained one day and that the people there have been without the services of a doctor for months on end?

I can only repeat to the Deputy that an appointment will be recommended to the local authority at an early date.

Thank you.
