Vol. 114 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Cork Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission intends to acquire the lands of Mrs. William Smyth at Finure, Aghada, County Cork, for distribution among the landless men and the uneconomic holders of the area.

There are no proceedings pending for the acquisition of the lands of Finure in the possession of Mrs. William Smyth.

I would like to bring to the Minister's notice that 50 families were evicted from this particular estate. Does the Minister intend to have this land sold to people through the agency of auctioneers and valuers who have offices in England and who might attract a certain type of people to come over and buy that land?

I am not aware of what the Deputy is asking. If the Deputy makes representations, I will have an inquiry on the spot.
