Vol. 114 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glencove Pier (County Kerry).

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that a survey has not yet been carried out at the Glencove Pier, The Glen, County Kerry; and, if so, whether he is prepared to have such a survey carried out immediately as the matter is of urgent importance to the fishermen of the district.

From the report to which I referred in my reply to the Deputy's question on the 29th July, 1948, it appears that the repair of the existing slipway at Glencove and of the wall leading from the pier to the point where boats are hauled up would meet the requirements of the fishing industry at present carried on at Glencove; but such maintenance works are the responsibility of the Kerry County Council.

As a result of correspondence between my Department and the county council, I understand that the council has the question of carrying out the necessary repairs under consideration now.
