Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 16 Feb 1949

Vol. 114 No. 1

Private Deputies' Business - Business of Dáil.

The proposal is to adjourn until the 2nd March.

We are opposing that motion. I presume I am in order in giving the reason. I think that it is wrong for the Dáil to meet for one day and then to adjourn for another protracted period when there are many matters of urgent public importance which Deputies wish to have considered.

If the Deputy has any very strong views on the matter, we will meet this day week.

So far as this is concerned, the Dáil must meet to-morrow unless there is a motion passed now proposing some other day. I am opposing any motion for the adjournment of the Dáil beyond to-morrow. Apart altogether from the matters which are available for discussion here and with which I think we should proceed, there were questions tabled for answer to-day which were not reached.

Very well; we shall meet to-morrow for Private Deputies' Business.

We shall make you work, whether you like it or not.

A Deputy

We will clear up the mess.

Mr. Boland

There will be a nice mess to clean up when you people have been cleared out by a few more Donegals.
