Vol. 114 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dangerous Kerry Bridges.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (i) that on the Waterville-Glenmore Road, County Kerry, there is an old wooden bridge now in a very bad state of repair and a serious danger to the lives of those who are obliged to use it; and (ii) that a new concrete bridge is absolutely essential; and, if so, whether he will urge the Kerry County Council to take immediate steps to have a permanent bridge erected there.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (i) that at Cockow, The Valley, Beaufort, County Kerry, there is a roughly-constructed wooden bridge so dilapidated that it can no longer be used with any degree of safety; and (ii) that the erection of a concrete bridge over the stream is absolutely essential; and, if so, whether he will make representations to the Kerry County Council to make the necessary provision for the erection of a concrete bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (i) that in the electoral division of Clydagh, parish of Glenflesk, Killarney, there is a dire necessity for the immediate erection of two bridges over the two rivers (tributaries of the Flesk) which flow through that district; and (ii) that the road serving the area is under repair by the Kerry County Council, the body which is responsible for the construction of the bridges; and, if so, whether he will make urgent representations to that body to make the necessary financial and other arrangements for the carrying out of this very necessary work.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions 11, 12 and 13 together. These are matters primarily for the Kerry County Council, the road authority for the area. I understand that they will all be before the council at its estimates meeting on 21st instant.
