Vol. 114 No. 6

Business of Dáil.

Business will be taken in the following order: Votes Nos. 68, 57, 59, 64, 37 and 38, and then No. 8 on the Order Paper.

Could the Taoiseach say when he hopes the Book of Estimates will be ready for presentation?

Very shortly.

Could the Taoiseach indicate when it is contemplated asking the Dáil for a Vote on Account?

That is a matter which I think should be discussed between the various Parties. Difficulties arise by reason of the occurrence of St. Patrick's Day on a Thursday. It has been suggested that we should not sit that week but that we should sit on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the next week and consider the Vote on Account, if that would suit the convenience of Deputies.

We will arrange for a discussion on the matter. Could the Taoiseach indicate now whether he has made any decision upon the matter of providing time for a motion relating to the report of the Committee of Procedure and Privileges?

I have not had a chance of bringing it before my colleagues yet, but I will to-morrow.

May I draw the Taoiseach's attention to the fact that there is a very large number of motions on the Order Paper? Will he provide sufficient time to have these motions dealt with? Some of them are of extreme urgency and importance, especially those dealing with agriculture.

I think the Deputy will appreciate, if he looks into the matter, that we have given more time for Private Deputies' motions than has been given in recent years. Adequate time will be given in the course of the next few weeks to deal with motions, but it is not the intention of the Government to give any Government time for these private motions.

May I draw attention to the fact that the Dáil has not sat on a Friday for quite a long time? That means a loss of two hours a week in Private Members' time.

May I remind the Chair that I gave notice yesterday that I would raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of a question on yesterday's Order Paper?

Deputy Dr. Brennan has also given notice. I will consider it.
