asked the Minister for Lands if he has made a decision in relation to any matter under any of the following heads: (a) land settlement; (b) afforestation; (c) public works; (d) rural industries, as a result of his visit to Connemara which was reported in the Press in November last; and if he will give particulars of such decision or decisions.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decisions following Connemara Visit.
I have nothing to add to the reply given to the Deputy on the 2nd instant, beyond stating that I am completely mystified as to why my visit to Connemara in November should cause so much concern to anybody. My Department has a special interest and responsibility in regard to the Gaeltacht, and I was very glad to avail of an opportunity to visit Connemara once more, especially as on the occasion in question I had the assistance of a local Deputy with first-hand knowledge of prevailing conditions.
Might I say, so that I may clear up the Minister's mystification, that great things were reported as about to take place in a paper very favourable to the Minister and it is because of that propaganda boosting the Minister that I put down these two questions? I got no satisfactory reply to either of them.
The Deputy will and he will not be too pleased.
There is nobody so jealous as the poor Minister for Justice.
