Vol. 115 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment of Road Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received complaints of inefficiency and discrimination in employment in relation to road workers from the Carrickmacross, County Monaghan area; and whether he is prepared to take steps to remedy the position.

I have received complaints regarding road administration in County Monaghan, but none of them appears to relate to the subject matter of this question. I understand that further complaints have been addressed to the county manager, who is looking into them. I am requesting that the manager will keep me informed of developments.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary agree with me that the privileges of this House should not be availed of by any Deputy in order to make irresponsible allegations against an official of 40 years' service?

I think that should be addressed to the Ceann Comhairle.
