Vol. 115 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (1) that in spite of his undertaking that the installation of a water supply for the village of Lower Aghada, County Cork, would start in February, 1949, work has not yet begun; (2) that the pipes have been lying near the proposed scheme for some months; (3) that the contract was let 15 months ago and yet nothing has since been done; and (4) that the water from the village pump is quite unsuitable for domestic purposes; and, if so, whether, in view of the urgency of the matter, he will arrange for work to start immediately.

I am not aware that the late Minister gave any undertaking that the installation of a water supply for the village of Lower Aghada would start in February, 1949. It is understood from the Cork County Council that work on the scheme was commenced on the 2nd instant.
