Vol. 115 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flood Damage in County Kerry.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the damage caused by the flooding of the Deenagh River. Kilcummin, Killarney, and of the obstruction caused to the bridges at Rathinane and Mastergeehy in consequence of such flooding; and, if so, whether he will give priority to the scheme for this river which has been lodged with his Department.

I have received proposals from Killarney Urban District Council and Kerry County Council for work on this river. The proposals will be considered but approval cannot be given to any scheme until the Local Authorities (Works) Bill, 1949, becomes law. Any question of priority as between approved schemes would in due course be one for the local authority.
