Vol. 115 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing in Kerry.

asked the Minister for Local Government if any steps are being taken for the provision of urban and rural houses in the following towns and villages where such is an urgent necessity: Killarney, Killorglin, Cahirciveen, Kenmare, Rathmore, Waterville, Sneem, Kilgarvan, Milltown, Portmagee, Ballinskelligs, Glenbeigh, Caherdaniel and Valentia.

Steps are being taken to acquire sites for the accommodation of rural cottages in the majority of the towns and villages mentioned. Three compulsory purchase orders have been submitted to my Department for confirmation; one for Cahirciveen has been confirmed and in the case of the other two the necessary public local inquiries will be held as soon as possible. A scheme for the erection of 50 houses at Kilcoolaght is at present being carried out by the Killarney Urban District Council.
