Vol. 115 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Dublin Dispensaries.

asked the Minister for Health whether and, if so, when steps will be taken to provide a dispensary at Santry and a new dispensary at Coolock, County Dublin.

The provision of new dispensaries is primarily a matter for the local authority concerned; in this case the Dublin Board of Assistance. No proposals regarding the provision of a dispensary at Santry or the erection of a new dispensary at Coolock have been received. The Dublin Board of Assistance has, however, been invited to submit proposals for the provision of a new temporary dispensary in the Coolock area, as it is understood the existing dispensary premises are being acquired by the Dublin County Council for housing purposes.

Is the Minister aware that in the Coolock area, at any rate, allegedly the provision of a dispensary has been under consideration for a number of years by the Dublin Board of Assistance? Will he take steps to have this much-needed amenity provided for the benefit of the residents of that area?

I am not aware of the facts conveyed by the Deputy's supplementary question, but I will have the matter investigated further and will do my best to have the provision of the necessary premises expedited with the co-operation of the local authority.
