Vol. 116 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Holding.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that six smallholders in the village of Raigha are sub-tenants of two leaseholders of the Trinity College Estate, S.6402 and S.6460; that the average poor law valuation of these holdings is under £2 10s.; that the confusion of mearings prevents their taking advantage of improvement schemes; and, if so, whether it is the intention to make these six occupiers direct tenants of the Land Commission and rearrange their holdings.

The suggestion that the smallholders in Raigha are sub-tenants is incorrect. They are direct tenants of the Land Commission.

This is one of many townlands in need of rearrangement and, as policy places emphasis on rearrangement, this case will be dealt with in its turn.
