Vol. 116 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Minister's Visit to America.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state (1) the duration of his recent visit to the United States of America; (2) the number and length of the conferences he had with the American Secretary of State, and (3) if he is prepared to make a statement to Dáil Éireann on the matters discussed at those conferences.

I arrived in the United States on the 8th April and left that country on the 2nd May.

I visited the American Secretary of State on the 11th April and had a conversation with him lasting three-quarters of an hour.

In addition, of course. I fulfilled a large number of public engagements.

I have no statement to make on the matters which I discussed with Mr. Acheson. I would, however, refer the Deputy to the answer I gave to Deputy Cogan on the 23rd February last.
